Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Meghalaya before Christmas, with a motive to spread the party's wings there, according to reports.
As per her itinerary, the West Bengal Chief Minister will travel to Assam on December 20 to perform puja at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. After that, she will travel by road to Shillong the next day, as per reports.
In November, the Leader of the Opposition in the Meghalaya Assembly, Mukul Sangma along with 11 Congress legislators joined TMC, giving a boost to the party in the northeastern state.
Reportedly, the TMC Chief will oversee the party work in Shillong during her visit and hold meetings with TMC leaders in Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, Banerjee is also scheduled to travel to Goa along with TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on December 13, where she will primarily supervise the party's expansion and present the plans for the state Assembly election due in February 2022.
