In a historic moment for India, composer MM Keeravani, along with singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, has won the Golden Globe 2023 for Best Original Song, for the track Naatu Naatu. The award is a first for the nation. The song has become an anthem of sorts for fans of director SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The historical epic collected nearly Rs 1200 crore worldwide. The film has also been nominated in the Best Non-English Language Film category at the 80th Golden Globes.
Keeravani accepted the award on stage, presented by star Jenna Ortega on January 11. Singers Taylor Swift and Rihanna were also nominated for the category. Soon after the win, Indians erupted in celebration and took over social media to express their joy. At the awards show, director Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and Jr NTR were present along with the film crew.
