Amid fresh escalation of violence in Manipur over the last week, two civilians were injured as mobs clashed with security forces overnight in state capital Imphal.

This comes a day after Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh’s house was set on fire by a mob.

A mob of approximately 1,000 people came together to try and burn down buildings near the palace compound.

According to reports, mobs have repeatedly tried to burn the houses of leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Notably, prompt action was taken by fire personnel and security forces who swiftly arrived at the scene, successfully bringing the warehouse fire under control and preventing its spread to neighboring houses.

The property belonged to a retired high-profile IAS officer from the tribal community.
