Indian batter Shuman Gill on Wednesday, January 17, became the fastest Indian to score 1000 ODI runs during the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Gill slammed his second successive hundred inside four days, and it took only 19 innings to attain the milestone, surpassing Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 24 innings.
He was also the quickest Indian to reach 500 runs in One-day Internationals during the three-match series against South Africa in October 2022.
